Graphic design and Information design don't just happen. They are planned. They work together to make to get your message across. Both must be considered when planning your page layout.
GRAPHIC
DESIGN
has to do with what the page
looks like.
Is it pleasing to the eye? Is there a balance in the relationship between the visual elements that are on the page? Does the page grab the readers attention?
The size of the center margins or gutter margins also affects the appearance of your page.
These margins must be considered in the binding process.
INFORMATION DESIGN concerns the message you intend for your page to convey to your readers.
Is there a logical flow of thought to what you are saying?
Does the graphic aspect of your design aid or distract from this flow of
thought?
